
Horsetail refers to the dried aerial parts of Equisetum hiemale L., a perennial herb. It is found in regions such as Northeast China, North China, Inner Mongolia, and the Yangtze River Basin. It is harvested in the summer, impurities are removed, and it is sun-dried or air-dried and cut into sections. It is used in its raw form.

Functions
- Dispels wind-heat

Clinical Applications
- Used for wind-heat affecting the eyes, causing redness, cloudiness, and excessive tearing.
- Used for rectal bleeding and hemorrhoidal bleeding.
Usage & Dosage
Decoction: 3–10g
- Can also be used in pills or powders, or applied externally in appropriate amounts.
Precautions
Use with caution in cases of Qi deficiency, blood deficiency, or eye diseases.
